Make Rockin River Inn your home base for touring the

Just 10 miles west is the Hill Country's largest and most intriguing city.
Set among the majestic hills surrounding the Guadalupe River, Kerrville
is home to two internationally known festivals. The Kerrville Folk Festival
around Memorial Day and the Kerrville Wine and Music Festival around
Labor Day draw original song writers and entertainers from all over
the nation. Rockin River Inn is located about 20 minutes from the
Festival grounds.
Other important attractions in Kerrville include

Exhibits of the nation's most distinguished living artists whose works
celebrate the memories of the Old West and the traditions of today's
ranching families. The Museum is housed in a spectacular modern
building worth seeing for its architectural quality alone.

Blending cultural history with the area's natural history, the
Nature Center displays a huge variety of Texas native plant life
along its walking paths, and in its wildflower meadows
and butterfly gardens. Special programs about native plants are
offered in its newly completed building. You can also receive
information about birding. Kerr County has been named one
of two counties in the best area for seeing all four of these rare and endangered species

Just 9 miles east on Hwy 27, Comfort is known as the "Star of the
Texas Hill Country". This small German town claims the most original
19th Century business district in Texas and is home of seven surviving
buildings by famed architect Alfred Giles. Both in the Historic District
and along Hwy 27 you will find some of the most unique shops in
the Hill Country offering authentic world treasures.

19 miles southeast of Rockin River Inn is Bandera, the "Cowboy Captal
of the World". This small Texas town is surrounded by some of the state's
largest and best known ranches. Maybe that's why so many famous
rodeo champions hail from this friendly place. The shops, restaurants and dance halls of Bandera retain their ranch heritage atmosphere and
invite you to feel like a true Texan. You can even have a beer on the porch
of a working blacksmith shop while you listen to the local musicians strum
their guitars.

Located just 20 minutes from the Inn, this historic German town,
pronounced Bur-nee, is a favorite shopping spot for Hill Country visitors.
If you're here on the second Saturday of the month, experience Boerne
Market Days, where antique dealers and craftsmen from all over Texas
show their wares an the Boerne plaza.

Drive north 25 miles along scenic Texas Hwy 87 to Fredericksburg.
The Hill Country's most well-known destination is this quaint German
community with its strong reputation for historic preservation. Visitors
to Fredericksburg will discover fine restaurants, art galleries, museums
and eclectic shops that will delight the most discriminating travelers.

Seven Texas wineries are located within an hour's drive of Rockin River Inn.
Most have regular wine tastings and tours. We will be glad to provide
detailed information and make reservations for you so you can experience
our Texas wines.

No doubt the most interesting Texas city to out-of-state travelers and a regular
destination for most Texans, San Antonio is at the heart of Texas history and
traditions. You can be on the Texas Mission trail in just one hour from the Rockin River Inn to take in the Alamo and other famous Texas missions.
Or drive just 40 minutes to Fiesta Texas theme park or Sea World. Afterwards, escape the city traffic and return to the serene atmosphere of our Hill Country inn.
